Dancing with God

Since the beginning of this year, I started to learn dancesport or some people are more familiar with the term ballroom dancing. It is a dance danced by couples consisting of the leader or the gentleman and the follower or the lady.

After a few months learning it, I found some important factors to take note in dancing these dances. As the leader, the gentlemen hold a very important role which is to lead and to tell the lady what step he would like her to dance next. As the follower, the ladies must be able to be responsive and quick to the signal from the gentlemen, or else, the dance won’t look so graceful anymore. As the gentlemen take charge in leading, the ladies have to do their part as well.

When dancing, the ladies are not always connected to the gentlemen. At times the gentlemen will allow the ladies to dance solo without holding her hands at all. However, because the ladies are the follower, so they have to put their hands in such a way that at any points of time when the gentleman would like to take her hands, he is able to do so. When they are away from each other, the ladies and the gentlemen have to keep their connecting hands in tension so that the signal can transfer quickly from the gentlemen to the ladies.

Now, what does this dancing thing have to do with God? I am so into dance lately, I just couldn’t get it out of my head. So one day, I asked God if I could actually dance with Him. Guess what? He gave me a lovely revelation.

Actually He would love to dance with me all my life. As the leader, He would like to lead me and tell me what is the next step to dance in my life. He will give me the freedom to sometimes dance solo. However, it is still within His leading because He will still be able to take my hand whenever He wants to. The tension in our connected hands, which is the relationship between us is important to maintain as that would determine how sensitive I am to the signal to dance the next step. With practice and discipline, it will be a beautiful life to dance!

So, guy (especially for all the dancers out there)! You can actually dance with God like what I am doing right now. ;)

We were having steamboat when it was raining in the evening. The soup was really warm in our hungry belly.

After we had enough to eat, we start taking picture. Yay^^

After do a little bit of shopping we went home.

When I Suddenly Become Blind

I was not interested in knowing more about it at first. All I knew was that the attendance was compulsory for all NPP students. When I woke up that morning, I did not feel like getting up as it was raining heavily outside with thunderclaps and lightning. But I knew I was late so I dragged myself out of bed for shower and hoped the rain would stop while I was showering.

It irritated me most when I had no choice but to walk in the rain to the bus stop. Fortunately, the rain had receded. However, from my knee down, my legs and shoes were inevitably wet. I waited in the bus stop and the bus did not come after 10 minutes. I started to feel worried as I was late for my session. In the end the bus came after I was waiting for almost 20 minutes. It was the usual one-hour-long journey to my school.

I was late for 15 minutes. I went to the receptionist and tell her my name. She directed me to the waiting area, so I waited there. I read from inside the glass wall, a phrase of inverted letters, “Dialogue in the Dark.” I heard about it a little bit. They said we would enter a room in complete darkness and would be guided by a blind person

Finally it was my group’s turn to go in. I was not so excited about it because I was imagining I would go into a big dark space with a blind person guiding me. I was entering the place with about 7 other people in the group. It was totally different from my imagination. I was going through a narrow long winded isle in the total darkness. We were told to follow the wall on our right until we reached Lukman, our guide.

We were following the wall on our left now and still, we were lost! We were calling out to each other’s name. We were given verbal instructions to do everything and our first reaction would be: “Where? I can’t find it! Lukman! Where are you? I’m lost.”

As we went deeper into the endless labyrinth, Lukman suddenly stopped us and called my name. I answered him and he asked me to leave the guiding wall on my left and come towards him. I gasped. Leaving the wall? No way! It was a total darkness and I did not know what was there before me. It might be a slope downwards or upwards. It might be rough or smooth. It might be dangerous!

“Don’t worry, Cindy. Just use your cane and leave the wall,” he instructed me.

I extended my cane and start to sweep the floor left to right, then right to left with shoulder length and start to step out of the line we formed, but still holding onto the wall. I became unsure as now I was about to leave my “comfort zone”. It was the wall that made me survive in that journey in the dark. Now he asked me to abandon it and trust him.

“Where are you, Lukman?” I shouted.

“I’m here. Just come towards my voice.”

I made a decision that moment, I would trust him. So I left the wall and I was on my own. I follow his verbal instructions and came towards his voice. I made it. I left the wall and overcame my fear. The journey continued and I found myself trusting him more and more. It was easier to trust all his verbal instruction than before.

And there he was, calling me for the second time to leave the group and come to him. It was no longer a hard decision for me to do it. I used my cane and I came straight to him. He caught my hand and led me to a place where he wanted the rest of the group to go. He told them to come towards my voice and I started to give them verbal sign to come to where I was. Now I became like him. I was giving instruction to others instead of getting instruction. And the tour went on until we were all sitting together, still in the dark room and started to chit chatting. When I was waiting for the rest of the group to get seated – because it was not easy for a group of ‘blind’ people to go and sit together, I had a revelation.

We may have eyes that see, but we just cannot see what is waiting for us in the future. Future is like a dark space ahead of us. Sometimes we can guess what is there by extending our hands and tried to scan our surroundings. We can also use our cane to find out what is on the ground. However, that was the only way to know what lay before us and we just cannot predict what is beyond that. I learned to trust the guide with all of me. I believed that he was the one and only whom I can trust because he walked that path before. I was not able to see him, but I realized that I did not have to see to believe. As I built my trust in him, it got easier and easier to trust him. And when the second time came when he tested my trust, I passed the test easily. Without thinking twice I came to him.

I need someone who knows about my future; someone who have been there before; someone whom I can trust with all of my heart, with all of my mind and with all of my soul to tell me where to go, how to go and what to do. And I am glad that I have found that someone: He is the Lord, my God to whom I have surrendered my life. Have you found yours?

My First Barbeque

Have you ever been to a barbeque before? Bet you have, but if not, don’t worry. There is always a first time for everything. This was my first barbeque and I am glad that it was with my ‘bestest’ friends! [Pardon for the grammatical mistake, I just don’t know how to describe how the E408 people to me is like, except by breaking the grammar]. So this is how it turn out to be.

It was 18 November. It was my first barbeque. Well, in the afternoon it was raining and seriously, I had a feeling, it would not turn out to be good, but later on I was proven to be wrong. When I reached the barbeque pit, it was still raining and it was wet! To make thing worse, this is the view from the pit.

We were planning to wait for the rain to stop, however, when we left the pit, the crows descended to steal our food! So we ran back to the pit and decided to start fire. Because it was still raining, we used umbrellas to keep the pit dry.

I was fanning the fire. Well, I have never been to a barbeque before, but I made satay before! So I know how to fan the fire. And before you say anything about the newspaper, we later took it away after the fire was quite stable.

See? There are umbrellas everywhere!

The day was exhausted; the night had arrived. The fire was stable, the food was cooked and the mood was different. Now everybody seemed to enjoy themselves since the rain has stopped.

Ethan: “This food is mine!”

Me: “Chicken! Chicken! Buy one get one free!” xD

Melvin came quite late, but not too late. There was still food, both cooked and raw!

Jaedon brought two decks of cards so the game was on!

For the red deck, the gambling queen was me and the gambling king was... hmm... Melvin? Haha^^ For the blue deck, the queen was Eunice and the king was Kendrick. ;D

Spiritual Atmosphere
DAILY DEVOTION FROM KONG

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen. 2 Corinthians 13:14

The word “communion” comes from the root word “commute,” which means to travel. The communion of the Holy Spirit therefore refers to the moving in the Spirit. But before you can move powerfully in the Spirit, you must become familiar and comfortable with the realm or environment of the Holy Spirit. Spiritual atmosphere is something very real. We live under its influence all the time. There are times when you may come into a room and you feel so uncomfortable that you just want to run out as fast as you possibly can. Then there are other times when you come into a room and you can sense the presence and the power of God. When the Holy Spirit fills a room, exciting and powerful things happen. King Saul was totally transformed when he encountered a prophetic atmosphere (1 Sam. 10:6). One hundred and twenty priests collapsed instantly when the glory of the Lord descended upon Solomon’s temple (2 Chr. 5:12-14).

We must become skillful in discerning the moving of the Holy Spirit and the type of spiritual atmosphere we are in. A sign of spiritual maturity is knowing how to move with the “mood” and “tempo” of the Holy Spirit. Moving correctly with the “feel” of the spiritual atmosphere is so vital. There are a few ways by which we can build a strong spiritual atmosphere around us every day:

(1) Praise and worship. Heartfelt praise and worship always brings down the presence of God (Ps. 22:3; 2 Kin. 3:14-15).

(2) Attitude of faith. When we come before God, we need to let go of our fears, anxieties and worries. An attitude of faith helps us to let go and let God (Ps. 46:10).

(3) Waiting on the Lord. The head moves quickly but the heart moves slowly. The longest distance is usually between the head and the heart. We should daily wait before the Lord until we can “feel” the presence of the Holy Spirit coming upon us. Learn to delight in a prolonged worship time or prayer time before God. Give time for the words of our song or prayer to move from our head to our heart.

(4) Spiritual actions. Our clapping, kneeling, bowing and faith confessions create powerful Spirit-filled atmospheres. The lifting up of our hands is not just a nice worshipful act; it often brings down the anointing of the Lord (Ex. 17:8-13). As you learn to commune with the Holy Spirit in His tangible presence, He will take you on an adventure into the exciting realm of vision and dreams, miracles and the supernatural.
